Thurso

Inspired by the sea-faring community of Scotland, Thurso hovers between tension and release. Recalling the comfort of a ferry station during harsh conditions, the artist Chandler McLellan sought to imbue this pendant with a soft warmth in both materiality and luminance. A thick off-white cotton crochet fabric has been stretched across the tiered framework of the fixture, naturally dipping in certain areas. As the weave eases and pulls, it creates larger and smaller gaps for light to escape. Coordinating with the earthy nature of the cord, the Bronze metalwork anchors this light-as-air pendant.
